Well! Yesterday was the day. Since it was close to my payment day, i watched nxt, watched when worlds collide and canceled my sub. I'll get it again around summerslam, cancel it, then pick it up for the rumble through mania.

I'll get it again around summerslam, cancel it, then pick it up for the rumble through mania. I should really try this and hope they come with the "three months for $0.99" offer. I'd miss 205live but...eh, I guess I could still catch it on 3rd party sites.

Glad my boy Jack Swagger is tapping out jabronis like it's his business in Bellatore. Wonder how he'd do if here jumped up to UFC, but given his age I don't think he will. He'll just wrack up some wins for a few years and call it day. I always liked Swags, his torpedo to the WHC so fast (and via MITB) absolutely tanked him.

J-Swags is great but Bellator is the kiddie pool to UFC. If he can't hack it there, he'd get annihilated in UFC. I'd rather see him jump ship with the rest of the Lucha Underground crowd be that to iMPACT or ROH. Great talent, clinically misused, and yes the world champion ascension was far too soon (ofc them cutting to commercial duting his promos didn't help).

So Double or Nothing was tonight. I've heard a lot of props for it, a little negative, but overall it sounds like a hit. I'm gonna give it a watch tomorrow and see for myself.

From what I've sen it was a solid show, nothing from what you wouldn't really expect from an indy show, but I think the atmosphere is what made it big. I like the aesthetic they went with. I can make my usual complaints about the Bucks - Penta and Fenix carried the absolute fuck out of them. Luchasaurus is my dude, and it was a good send-off match for Dustin, even if there were too many nearfalls.
I think the show stood on it's own, and that's why I have a problem with Cody. He could have let the numbers and the reception speak for itself, but instead he did that hyper cringeworthy "notice me sempai" chair spot. Whenever people want to make sideways jabs or references to WWE it just comes off has desparate and sad coughVoodooKinMafiacough

Didn't see the preshow so missed those 2 matches. But outside of golddust bleeding out, it kinda reminded me of a tone down takeover show with a recycled impact stage.
The show did a good job of introducing new faces (there was a couple i didnt know) and set up a couple of story lines for the next ppv. I'll watch the next one, can't really say that about roh right now.
And yeah, the chair smashing spot was dumb.
And i could care less about jon mox. I sat in silence. Rolled my eyes. Bring in another wwe guy Cody. I dont care about Kenny v Mox.

FWIW, the only match I really didn't care for was Generation Me vs Lucha Brothers. This match went on entirely too long, and had way too many near falls. Like a couple of marks that have to get their shit in. Can't believe Lucha Brothers left iMPACT where they were treated like Gods to job to Generation Me.
I liked the set. Love me some entrance tunnels.
Cody's shot at Haitch was dumb and cringe, but the crowd still popped for it so...win? Win.
I'm excited for Jon Moxley while I grew tired of Dean Ambrose. Maybe now Ambrose will be as dead and buried as Derrick Bateman. Fact of the matter is, Mox will move gates and merch, and he will move a lot of it. If you're gonna pull a 2009 TNA and bring in an ex-WWE guy, Mox is the guy to grab.
J.R. was absolutely carried by Alex and that Excalibur guy. I think the two man booth would be stronger. Admittedly, the two man booth would be better for J.R. too, but get him a damn heel to work off of rather than two faces reaching the point of orgasm for every climax in every match.
Oh, and I love MJF. Maxwell Jacob Friedman is like #NextLevelMiz good. I dion't think Bret Hart was necessary and he was easily the weakest part of that segment.

John So Jon Moxley wrestles nothing like Dean Ambrose. You might like the different style. Less hoaky stumbling around like that drunken uncle crap.

So to the people who follow the scene more than me, has Kenny Omega's star started to fade? The man was the talk of pro wrestling for a year and now he's rarely talked about anymore. Was abandoning his position as New Japan's top gaijin and completely kneecapping their American expansion a huge mistake?

I think we'll really see that answer once their weekly TV happens in September.

What he said. He went from being showcased at every NJPW show, almost weekly, to being the key guy to a company that just had their 2nd show, which looks like it wasn't received all that well. He's only had 1 match in 2 months. Fall is coming and so is the TV show.

Like, I enjoyed the match with Jericho. The jury was out on him, for me, until he took that back elbow from Jericho. That sell, the way he took it, that was the moment I became interested in him. I know that sounds silly, but the way he sold that strike was what grabbed my attention. So simple...yet so powerful.

I just think Kenny is squandering himself and his hype. It's fine if he's enjoying himself more and having fun with the lighter schedule / taking bookings he wants (the Kota Ibushi approach) but it's a damn shame. I don't think the over-the-top dork pandering is good for him, he was always better as the cleaner.

I honestly haven't enjoyed any of Omega's work since he left NJPW. Damn shame, too. Hopefully as AEW get's rolling a little more i'll have to repeal my statement.

What a week for AEW - Punk blowing out AEW and possibly getting hired by Fox for some tangential role with WWE, Brandi being Brandi, Nyla being a retard, Tony Khan responding to marks on Twitter and looking like a mark himself (he is). AEW is going to fall into the same exact holes that befuddled TNA. I get why Khan wanted to build the promotion around the Elite and gave them a ton of power in the company, but I think he done fucked up. Omega is the only one not making an asshole out of himself on a regular basis. He just wants to wrestle and book his joshi waifus.

The difference is iMPACT has learned from that and despite seventeen years of "this company is dead", it has in fact reinvented itself and now has a permanent home and a real network, a network made for wrestling (AXS is home to NJPW, WOW, and now iMPACT, at least for now). And I hear they are actually talking with ROH again? Big if true. If they could do an actual, legitimate feeling InVasion, with the history of ex-TNA guys in ROH, ex-ROH guys in TNA, and actually sit down and book cohesively, they could draw a lot of money...it probably won't happen because Delirious is not a good booker, but man what could be.

I catch bits and pieces. It's probably the best it's been in ages, as good as early TNA which was good in a different, low budget campy way. The women are still far and above the shit WWE churns out and what we've seen from AEW so far.

The women are still far and above the shit WWE churns out and what we've seen from AEW so far. Well those Low Budget Campy Days might be coming back since Impact lost their production crew to AEW. Just when everything seems to going good for Impact, they then and went all TNA on us and not renewed the contract with the production company just as they get ready to move to AxsTV. Hopefully the parent co. have something/someone they can use for now since this is deal with the app and all.

It's likely AEW just offered more money, rather than iMPACT opted not to renew. Can't compete with Khan money after all.

Anyone catch NWA Powerrr yet? I'ma check it out tonight. Looks really comfy. I came across it on youtube and HOLY FUCKING SHIT BATMAN! It's fucking awesome! I love the retro vibe. How it's a throw back to the old WCW TV studio shows. I don't know who all is apart of the NWA roster, didn't know who the champs were till I just watched, but it hooked me. After the video promo spot and they threw it to the interview section and Aldas came out with the belt and cut that promo, I got it. I ate it up. It put a smile on my face. I loved it. Now, IDK how long it'll last, you really only get 1 real match in the 50 minutes, and it's going to be nothing but a huge set up for a PPV of some sorts I am guessing and there is nothing wrong with that. But right now, it's completely different than any other wrestling show out there and I like that it's under an hour. Gimme a couple of "big names", give em 5 minute squash match, and cut a old school promo after words. Eli Drake BTW killed it. Sprinkle in some storylines here and there that work to a pay off match somewhere and keep hyping the belts. Hats off to Billy Corgan for dusting off NWA and breathing some life back into it. I'm not sure if it's for everyone and I think it'll be a niche pure wrestling show along the lines of Impact, where in you either watch it and love it or just ignore it all together. The first ep. is just perfect. The only negative I would give, is the hard cam needs to go up a couple of hairs. It feels like you are looking up into the ring. It doesn't need to be up high looking down like how we are used to, but I would like to get above that top rope some.
